Garbage Truck Driver Facing DUI Charges After Striking Vehicles In Brooklyn
A garbage truck driver was charged with DWI, reckless endangerment, and leaving the scene of an accident after a destructive ride through the streets of Bensonhurst on June 10th. 40-year-old Anthony Castaldo totaled at least nine vehicles in the incident, but fortunately, there were no injuries. The wild ride finally ended when he crashed his truck into a front porch on 60th Street. The driver’s employer has suspended him.
Motorcyclist Killed In Brooklyn Accident
A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a vehicle behind a funeral procession in Brooklyn on Saturday. The motorcyclist crashed into a car that had stopped to let the procession pass on Hinsdale Street at around 10:30 a.m. He was thrown from his bike and paramedics found him laying on the street and foaming at the mouth. Paramedics brought him to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
4 Injured When Car Crashes Through Bedstuy Storefront
At least four people were injured after a vehicle smashed through a Bedstuy cafe in a chain-reaction crash on Thursday, May 31. The accident happened at around 8:30 a.m., beginning with a black sedan sideswiping a silver Challenger. The driver of the Challenger then lost control, jumped a curb, and crashed into The Civil Service Cafe. The driver of the sedan drove away from the scene of the accident before police arrived.
A 32-year-old woman in the coffee shop was pinned under the car and suffered a collapsed lung and broken leg. A 40-year-old man sitting outside of the shop suffered neck and back injuries. Police are still searching for the driver of the sedan.
Mother Killed, Son Injured In Brooklyn Bus Stop Accident
A mother was killed and her 6-year-old son was injured in a tragic chain-reaction car accident in Brooklyn on Tuesday, June 12. The mother and son were standing at a bus stop at the intersection of Remsen and Seaview Avenues in Canarsie when an SUV struck a sedan, sending the second vehicle over the curb. The vehicles pinned them both up against a fence. The mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while the son suffered a head injury and was listed in critical but stable condition.
