5 Injured In Brooklyn Car Accident
Five people, including three military members on leave, were injured in a car accident in Brooklyn on Wednesday, July 4. The accident happened at 8:15 a.m. when one vehicle carrying all five people crashed into a tree on the 2900 block of Flatbush Avenue in the Marine Park section of the borough. A 24-year-old backseat passenger suffered the most serious injuries and was brought to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition. The other four passengers were brought to Kings County Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Driver Impaled By Tree Branch In Brooklyn
A man was sent to the hospital after he was impaled by a tree branch in a freak accident on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn on Saturday, June 30. The 38-year-old man was driving near the Bay Ridge waterfront when a tree limb crashed through his minivan, impaling him in the abdomen. Rescue workers responded to the scene and worked for about an hour to remove the man from his vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
3 People Hit By Subway Trains In One Day In NYC
Three people were struck by subway trains in three different boroughs on Wednesday, June 27.
A woman holding an infant was hit by a subway train in the Bronx after she jumped onto the tracks at the Grand Concourse Station. The woman was listed in critical condition, but her infant is expected to be okay.
In Brooklyn, someone was struck at the Cleveland Street Station at around the same time. The J-train service between Cypress Hills and Broadway Junction was temporarily shut down in both directions as a result.
Later in the day, someone else was struck by a train in Queens at the Queensbridge station. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.
2 Injured When Awning Collapses Onto Brooklyn Sidewalk
Two people were hurt when an awning collapsed onto a sidewalk in Brooklyn on Monday, July 2. The awning crashed onto the sidewalk and on top of the two victims at 9412 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge. The FDNY responded to the scene to investigate the awnings and make sure they were secure. No further information on the cause of the collapse was available. The two victims were treated for minor injuries.
