Several Children Injured In Brooklyn School Bus Accident
Several school children were injured when the mini school bus they were riding in got into an accident in Brooklyn on Tuesday, January 9th. The accident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. when the bus was bringing children home from St. Frances of Paola School in the Williamsburg section of the borough. The bus struck another vehicle near Bay Ridge and 10th Avenue in Dyker Heights and flipped onto its side.
Fortunately, all of the injuries were relatively minor. Police are still unsure of who was responsible for causing the accident.
Elderly Woman Dies After Brooklyn Car Accident
An 89-year-old woman from Brooklyn was killed in a car accident on Sunday, December 17th. She was riding in a for-hire vehicle when her vehicle collided with another car. The accident happened at around 2:45 p.m. when a 2009 Kia crashed into the driver’s side of the Toyota Camry she was riding in.
Another elderly woman in the Camry suffered minor injuries in the accident. The driver has been charged with driving with a suspended license.
Woman Plans To Sue City After Her Son Breaks Both Arms
A Brooklyn mother is planning to sue the city after her 6-year-old son came home from his Bushwick school with two broken arms. The mother asked school officials how the injuries happened but received no explanation. Her son was in the care of an after-school program at the school, but neither the program nor the school has provided an explanation or taken responsibility for the boy’s injuries.
The woman’s attorney has said he plans to file a notice of claim against the city, which is the first step to filing a personal injury lawsuit. The principal and school authorities are blaming the after-school program, but the after-school program is pointing their finger in the opposite direction and alleging that the opposite is true.
The Department of Education is currently investigating the incident.
1 Killed, 1 Injured In Brownsville Head-On Collision
A 58-year-old man was killed and one other person was injured in a head-on collision in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn on Wednesday, December 27th. The 58-year-old man crashed his SUV into a van being driven by a 78-year-old man at around 4:08 a.m. Paramedics found the SUV driver unconscious at the scene and he was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The van driver suffered minor injuries. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital for treatment.
The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the accident.
