Brooklyn Man Arrested For Causing Multiple Crashes

A Brooklyn man was recently arrested for causing multiple crashes. According to the police, the man caused multiple accidents because he was driving a patient in an ambulette while drunk.

Police stated that the 45-year-old man of Nostram Avenue was driving a Life Care ambulette in the morning transporting a dialysis patient from his Queens home to a treatment center in Nassau County. Police were made aware of an ambulette that had crashed into a utility pole and left the scene of the accident on East Greenwich Avenue near Nassau Road in Roosevelt.

As police were attending to the first call, another came in about an ambulette that had struck another utility pole in front of 250 East Greenwich Avenue. When police responded to the other call they found a badly damaged ambulette, a fractured utility pole, a damaged parked car and the driver lying on the ground next to the ambulette.

Police stated that the driver was intoxicated and he was arrested. The patient in the ambulette, 77-year-old man, suffered minor injuries to his ribs when the crash took place. The driver was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree reckless endangerment, and driving while intoxicated among other charges.

Cab Driver Jumps Curb And Hits Two Pedestrians

On Saturday, July 1, 2017, a livery cab jumped a curb and hit two pedestrians in Harlem. The 59-year-old cab driver is believed to have lost control of his black 2007 Cadillac Escalade after he rear-ended an M60 bus on 125th St. close to Park Avenue.

The SUV ended up mounting on the curb and hit two pedestrians on the sidewalk. Witnesses stated that the crash could be heard from blocks away. The cab driver was pinned behind the steering wheel and FDNY Emergency workers had to extricate him.

The accident left the cab driver’s passenger with minor injuries, but the struck pedestrians did not have the same fate. One pedestrian was left unconscious and another’s face was cut up pretty badly and was left bleeding. Witnesses also said there was lots of blood everywhere.

Emergency responders took the driver and one of the injured pedestrians to Harlem Hospital. The cab passenger and the other injured pedestrian were taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital.

There were no immediate charges in this accident and no criminal activity is suspected.

West Hempstead Woman Arrested For Drunk Driving Accident

On Wednesday, July 4, 2017, a West Hempstead woman was arrested for driving drunk and causing an accident. The 24-year-old woman drove drunk into another car and a building in Inwood, N.Y.

Nassau police stated that she was heading northeast on Sheridan Boulevard in Inwood when she drove through a red traffic light and crashed into a 2001 Lincoln Navigator heading east on Bayview Avenue.

Police reported an investigation showed that the 24-year-old woman was driving drunk and both her and the driver of the car she crashed into were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Cyclist Dies In Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident

Early Friday morning June 30, 2017, a hit-and-run driver crashed into a bicyclist in Brooklyn. The 32-year-old cyclist was struck on Central Avenue near Linden St. in Bushwick around 3.30 a.m.

The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital in serious condition but he died on Saturday, July 1, 2017. According to authorities, the cyclist collided with a 2005 Acura MDX at Central Avenue.The driver initially stayed on the scene of the accident but according to authorities, he left before he spoke with any cops. The father of the victim said he was on his way from work when the accident took place.
